Explore & More Presents
Programs on the Waterfront
Check out Explore & More as the museum presents hands-on programming fun for the whole family on Buffalo’s Waterfront! Most Fridays from 1 to 4pm, during August (except August 15), Explore & More will be presenting cool activities for kids on the central wharf at Erie Canal Harbor.
This is the perfect opportunity to take a look at the new waterfront – enjoying the sites of the amazing restoration of the original Erie Canal Harbor, the beauty of Lake Erie views during the summer, and some cool fun from Explore & More. Scheduled programs include “A Day for Clay” on August 1. What can be more fun than to create your own clay sculpture? They will teach you techniques as you let your creativity run wild. For the very young, there will be play dough for fun, too!
On Friday, August 8, the theme is “Building on the Waterfront.” Kids will share their ideas on what makes a perfect waterfront community by constructing buildings and so much more. Throughout the afternoon, they will be drawing inspiration from each other and their surroundings.
Friday, August 22 brings “Gone Fishin’” where the ancient art of printing comes alive. Kids can make their own prints of fish with watercolor paints, special printing materials and their imaginations. Finally, on August 29, it’s “Drumming Fun.” Making music can be so much fun, especially with drums! Kids will hear some great drumming and even get to make their own music.
You can park for free at the Erie Basin Marina, or utilize paid parking in several lots surrounding the harbor. In addition, on-street parking is available in the adjacent neighborhood, including on both Pearl Street and Marine Drive. All events are free to the public and are supported by the City of Buffalo, Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation and Buffalo Place. Call Explore & More at 655-5131 or log onto www.exploreandmore.org to learn more.
